The One World Government and Religion of the Bible
Bible Study Guide
The One World Government ends being a conspiracy theory when the leaders of the movement admit to its existence and future. Well before it even made its debut on the minds of mankind, a One World Government was etched in God’s Word.
God spoke of it well before humanity could even understand what it meant. Let’s keep that in mind as we seek the truth as to what and how this global government will come into existence.

It was likely on the mind of Noah’s grandson, Nimrod. The framework of global governance was on Nimrod’s mind when he gathered all people together to build the tower of Babel. It’s an ancient idea that will manifest through the leadership of the Antichrist in the last days of the Tribulation.
In order to understand the truth of the globalization of governance, we must look at the Bible.
The Abomination of the One World Religion
(Verses 6-7) John is astonished to see the women (great prostitute), one world religion drunk on the blood of God’s people. This points to the death of millions of Jews and Christians who followed Christ. They were eventually persecuted and killed for their belief.
There is so much blood on her for the death of God’s people, that she’s drunk in her sins and lust for their death. The Catholic church is in the cross-hairs of this verse. The Catholic Inquisitions that stormed across Europe killed millions of Christians for their belief in Christ.
This is what’s said of the benevolent Catholic church and the Inquisition in Halley’s Bible Handbook.
"The Inquisition"
The inquisition was the main agency in the Papacy's effort to crush the reformation. It is stated that in the 30 years between 1540 and 1570, no fewer than 900 thousand Protestants were put to death. Think of the monks and priests directing, with heartless cruelty and unhuman brutality, the work of torturing and burning alive innocent men and women; and doing it in the name of Christ, by the direct order of the "vicar of Christ." The inquisition is the most infamous thing in history. It was devised by the Popes, and used by them for five hundred years to maintain their power.
The Catholic church of Rome is certainly one whose been drunk with the blood of God’s holy people. They’ll surely not be forgotten by God. We’ll come back to the Catholic church in a moment. Let’s hear what the angel has to say as she explains to John the meaning of all these things.
God does not forget. He’ll not forget a single drop of blood from His people spilled by the Catholic Church.
A False Religion and the False Miracle
(Verse 8) The angel is speaking of what John witnessed in Revelation 13. The beast is the Antichrist. He “once was, now is not, and yet will come.” This points specifically to the Antichrist’s fake death and false resurrection. This was an attempt to imitate Christ. It was also for his benefit to attract his followers.
Look carefully at this passage. The angel is telling John that those whose name is not in the Book of Life (unbelievers) will be entranced by this fake death and resurrection. This will cause them to fall head over heel and follow the Antichrist without hesitation.
“One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast.” (Revelation 13:3)
Those who come to know and follow Christ in the Tribulation will not fall for this deception. Unfortunately for them, death for their belief will be on their doorstep. But their reward of eternal life will be waiting for them.
The One World Government Biblically Explained
(Verse 9) The angel calls on John’s attention for a moment. He does this by calling out the need for wisdom in understanding what is to come next.
The wisdom the angel is pointing to is rooted in God and the truth of His word and His sovereignty. In other words, don’t go out looking for a worldly explanation to the revealing of this mystery. Stick to God’s word and understanding. Then all of this will make sense.
The seven hills refers to Rome which is “the city built on seven hills.” The angel is stating that the center of this coming One World Religion is in Rome. This is the home of the Catholic Church.
(Verse 10) Notice here that the symbol of the seven heads has a dual purpose. It points to two different literal things. First, it’s a symbol of the city of Rome. Second, it represents seven powerful pagan kings of the past, present and future.
Notice carefully, this verse is quoted in the present time of John being given these Revelations from Christ. The five past kings range from the king of Assyria who toppled the Northern Kingdom of Israel to the Greek Empire and up to Roman Emperor Nero. The current king of John’s day is the Roman Emperor Domitian. It was Domitian who exiled John to the island of Patmos.
The seventh king who has not yet come will rise out of the Revived Roman Empire. He’ll lead the coming One World Government.
(Verse 11) The end is near for the beast (Antichrist). It will be the end of the One World Religion first. Then it’ll be followed by the end of the One World Government and everything that the evil spirit of Babylon has infiltrated.
What is Global Governance?
(Verse 12) In this verse, we see the forming of a future One World Government. The ten horns that John saw in his vision at the beginning of this passage are of ten kings that are still to come in the future.
Notice that these kings have not received a kingdom. Here again is another mention of a One World Government spoken of by God well before mankind ever considered it.
The United Nations and the Club of Rome have both proposed a ten region global government. Their idea is to divide the world into ten regions. Then assign leaders to these ten regions to better manage the globe from a political and socioeconomic perspective.
These regions will not be the kingdoms of these ten kings. But they’ll have authority and rule over them as kings.
Does this sound familiar to what we just read. According to the Bible, these globalists are going to get their wish. Unfortunately for them, it’ll not go according to their plan, but only according to God’s.
The Purpose of This Global Government
(Verses 13-14) These ten kings will have one purpose. They will give all authority to the Antichrist (beast). He’ll become the global leader. Then will come the mark of the beast. They’ll wage war against Christ. From the beginning to the end, the Tribulation will be a time of war across the globe.
Remember, this will occur during the Tribulation. These ten regions ruled by ten kings who have no kingdom will do so for a very short time (one hour). The Tribulation is closely coming to an end.
We know who’s going to arrive at the end of the Tribulation. The king of kings and the Lord of lords. Then this globalist One World Government party will be over.
This verse also gives us a glimpse of all the raptured followers of Christ. And where are they? Right next to Christ. Just as He promised. We haven’t heard from the church (raptured believers) since the beginning of Revelation.
We’ll talk more about this in the next chapter.
The One World Government Ends the One World Religion
(Verses 15-16) Both of these entities will grow in parallel influenced by Satan throughout the Tribulation. They will benefit one another. They will both serve to deceive people away from God and from following Christ.
Both of these global bodies will draw authority from the nations and hand it over to the beast. Once the beast (Antichrist) has reached the pinnacle of his political power and authority, he’ll no longer have a need for the One World Religion.
He will destroy the false religion he helped create for his purpose. He will have not need for this religion. His desire is to set himself up in the temple to demand to be worshiped as God.
(Verse 17) God reminds us in this verse that all of this is under His control and moving toward His purpose and desires for the world.
Even when things look terribly bleak, we must always remind ourselves that God is in control. Our joy and peace will still come from our loving Savior, Jesus Christ.
God uses the the One World Government to destroy the One World Religion. When Christ returns, He’ll destroy what remains of this evil global government.
What Is the Great City?
(Verse 18) Many believe that the great city is the city of Babylon. They believe it will be reconstructed in order for it to be finally destroyed again. But Isaiah prophecy’s that the city of Babylon will never become a city again since God destroyed it through the armies of Persia.
Babylon is the second most mentioned city in the Bible. It’s used repeatedly as a symbol of the evil spirit of Satan infiltrated into humanity beginning with Nimrod and the Tower of Babel. This city is unlikely the great city physically reconstructed as Babylon. It’s more so, the continued symbolic reference of the evil spirit of Babylon or another major pagan city such as Rome.
Does Revelation 17 Point to the Catholic Church?
Many believe that Revelation 17 is full saturated with symbols of the Catholic Church. So much so, that it couldn’t possibly be pointing to anything else. Let’s look quickly at these signs.
- The scarlet and purple dress of the woman is similar to the scarlet and purple garb worn by the leaders in the Catholic Church.
- The gold, precious stones, and pearls are similar to what adorns many of the items that the Catholic Church uses in their pagan rituals.
- The golden cup in her hand is similar to the golden chalice used for their repeated pagan ritual of atonement of sin in the Catholic Church.
- The name the “Mother of Prostitutes” points to the Catholic Church and her leadership role in the global ecumenical movement of bringing all religions together for a global one world religion despite religious beliefs.
- The woman was drunk with the blood of God’s people. This points to the Catholic Church and the Inquisitions that spread across Europe which led to the death of millions of Jews and Christians (God’s people).
- The woman is centrally located in the “city built on seven hills” (Rome). This is the home of the Catholic Church and where most of the money that’s donated to the church is sent to from across the globe.
All Biblical Facts Point to the Catholic Church
Keep in mind, this is not me speaking. This is the word of God. The angel also points to the need for wisdom in understanding all this. The biblical understanding points clearly to the Roman Catholic Church.
Align this with the current implosion of the Catholic Church throughout the world. Then listen to the Pope tell other religions that you don’t need to believe in Jesus but you just need to be good, do good, say good and all will be good.
That to me sounds like the spirit of Babylon speaking loud and clear to the world. Satan loves nothing more than have you think you’re going down the right path while he leads down the wrong one. This is one of Satan’s greatest weapons.
“There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death.” (Proverbs 14:12)
I’ll let you guys come to your own conclusion. I’m just here to let God’s Word interpret God’s Word.
Now that the angel has given us an overview of the coming One World Government. Let’s go and take a look at its fall. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting excited. The return of Christ is only a few short chapters away.
Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!
