A Simple Path for New Believers and New to Bible Study: A Beginner Bible Study Plan to Walk in God’s Word
Friend, I want to walk with you through a simple but powerful beginner Bible study plan. This isn’t about overwhelming you with long reading lists or complicated theology. This is about guiding you step by step into God’s Word—so you can understand His truth, feel His presence, and prepare your heart for what He is doing today and what He has promised for tomorrow.
This is the very same path I wish someone had handed me when I first began. Let’s walk it together.

Step 1: Begin with the Gospel of John
Every journey must begin with Jesus. The Gospel of John shows us Christ’s heart—His miracles, His love, His death, His resurrection and His Deity. If you want to know God, you must know Jesus. John’s gospel will guide you to a deeper understanding of Jesus and the Father. And it will deepen your relationship with your Savior who died for you because He loves you.
👉 Start here: Read one chapter a day in John. The focus of this step is crucial for any beginner in a Bible study plan. As you read, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal who Jesus is to you personally. You can do less than a chapter a day if you feel more comfortable.
- John 1-10: – Word Became Flesh, the Great I Am, Born Again, and the Wine the Wedding and the Rapture
- John 11-21: – Death of Lazarus, What is the Rapture?, Peter’s Denial, the Resurrection and Miracles of Jesus
Step 2: Move Into the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24–25)
Once you know Jesus, you’re ready to hear His own words about the future. In Matthew 24–25, Jesus tells us what is happening now and what is coming—the signs of His return, the trials ahead, and the hope of His kingdom.
👉 Take your time here. These are prophetic words spoken directly by our Lord. Allow Him to speak to you face to face. Feel the power of His words penetrate your heart as you continue your beginner journey into a Bible study plan.

Step 3: Explore Rapture Theology
Now that you’ve seen Jesus’ teaching, it’s time to understand the blessed hope of the church (believers)—the Rapture. This truth will lift your eyes and heart toward His promise to take us to Himself before the time of great tribulation on the earth. Christ has no intention of bringing you through God’s wrath. He already took it upon Himself on the cross in the forgiveness of sins. There is nothing more we can do or need to do but to accept Him as our Lord and Savior.

Step 4: Dive Into the Book of Revelation
The Revelation of Jesus Christ is not a book to fear—it is a book to treasure. It reveals Jesus as King, Judge, and Victor. It tells us what is coming, and how we are to live with watchful hearts until that day.
👉 Begin at Revelation 1. Including the book of Revelation in your beginner Bible study plan can be transformative. Remember: this is not “John’s revelation.” It is the revelation of Jesus Christ.
- Revelation 1-11: – Letters to the Seven Churches, the Seven Seals, and the Seven Trumpets
- Revelation 12-16: – The Counterfeit Trinity, and the Seven Bowls (The Earth’s Worse Days)
- Revelation 17-19: – End of False Religion, Collapse of the Beast System, and the Second Coming
- Revelation 20-22: – 1,000 Year Reign of Christ, Great White Throne Judgment, and the New Heaven and the New Earth
Step 5: Study the Millennial Kingdom (Isaiah’s Prophecies)
To complete your beginner Bible study guide, we look forward to the glory of the Millennial Kingdom. The prophet Isaiah paints breathtaking pictures of Christ’s reign on earth, of peace, justice, and restoration.
👉 This will remind you: no matter how dark the days may seem, God’s plan ends in light, victory, and eternal hope for the believers in His son, Jesus Christ. Keeping this perspective is vital for those following a beginner’s Bible study plan.
- Isaiah 2: – What Will the Millennial Kingdom Look Like?
- Isaiah 9: – What Will the Government of Jesus Look Like?
A Word of Urgency
Friend, I cannot stress this enough—don’t wait. The days are short, the signs are clear, and Christ’s return is near. The reason I built this beginner Bible study plan is not just to help you read the Bible, but to prepare you to meet Jesus face to face.
Don’t let fear or hesitation hold you back. Open your Bible today. Begin with John. Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you. And know that I am walking this path with you, cheering you on, and praying that your faith grows deeper with every page.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I thank You for guiding me on this journey through Your Word. I know that every page of Scripture is alive with Your voice, calling me closer to You. Lord, I confess that on my own I am weak, but through Your Spirit I can walk in strength.
Holy Spirit, continue to open my eyes to see what I could never see alone, and give me understanding beyond my own ability. Let my heart remain soft, humble, and thirsty for the truth of Your Word.
Lord Jesus, I long for Your return. Until that day, let me live faithfully, shining Your light in a world that desperately needs Your hope. Help me to be alert, to watch, to wait, and to share Your truth with others while there is still time.
Father, seal this journey in my heart. Make me bold in my faith, steadfast in my study, and overflowing with love for You and for those who need to know You.
I give You all the glory, Lord. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Amen.
